Match Report:

I would like to thank the boys for their massive improvements in such a short space of time; I also want to thank the parents who have helped with encouraging the boys to give their bests.

First Half
The game started at a very good pace, and Wrightchoice had literally taken being defensive to a whole new level. At the start of the game, I had asked them to work as a team and help each other out and enjoy their football.  So the team decided to help their two defenders out and literally stand in front of our goal area.  This of course invited unnecessary pressure, and Burghfield went on the attack several times with Keanu Edwards, our man of the match making several great saves, from what were surely certain goals. Wright Choice struggled to get out of their own half, and any attacks we had were very quickly stifled by the Burghfield team. Credit to the boys though, they defended well, making several blocks and sliding tackles, however I wanted us to attack more.

Second HALF
I sat the boys down and ask them do they think they can score this half, can they gout and dribble and pass and take a player on, can they go out there and do more than defend. Their answer was emphatic. Sure we went down early on in the half; due to Burghfield carrying on where they have left off in the 1st half all out attack. What was really impressive was their response, the balls attacked back, they were playing as a team, passing the ball forward and running with purpose, they got the equaliser their attitude deserved. We caught Burghfield on the break, stopping one of their attacks, Shiloh then kicked the ball from defence to midfield, this was picked up by Leyton who passed to Taine who ran for about 20yards outpacing Burghfield defenders and then finishing coolly when one on one with the goal keeper.  However Burghfield soon got a second, with a well taken finish after a good dribble with the ball from one of their players.  We had about 5 minutes level and the game was fairly open, end to end stuff. With one of the lasts kicks of the game, we got our well deserved second goal to level the game. A great goal kick from Keanu dropped to our midfield, one pass set up Taine who took a lovely touch to get the ball from out of his feet he was left with one defender to beat, he knocked the ball pass the defender and ran the other side to collect the ball, now he was one on one with the goal keeper and he finished just as coolly as he did the first. The boys showed tremendous spirit and fight, to get the well deserved draw, really well done Wrightchoice.
