The following questions were given to the parents and the child. Our aim is to ensure both the parent and child understands the Wrightchoice ethos. Any negatives will be turned into positives and the positives will be used for continued improvement.

Child Questions:

(WCSA) In what way has Wrightchoice benefited you at School?

(C) It has been good because it has helped me understand how important school is and feel it has helped me out with my football because I feel more confident.

(WCSA) How has Wrightchoice improved you as a player?

(C) Wrightchoice has really improved me as a player. I have improved loads on my dribbling skills, my balance, my left foot, my shooting & passing. I have also learnt loads of skills like, the Maradona, the Christino Ronaldo chop and the Ronaldinho Flip Flap.

(WCSA) How did Wrightchoice prepare you for going into the Southampton FC Academy?

(C) By the training I received and the way the coaches used to talk to me and give my confidence.

(WCSA) Describe the relationship between you and the coaches at Wrightchoice?

(C) I love all of the coaches as they always compare me to Thierry Henry or Patrick Viera if I do something good. I always look forward to training with the coaches as its so much fun with them, they are the best because if we’ve done well at tournaments or at some of our matches then they buy use sweets after.

(WCSA) What do you enjoy most about the coaching at Wrightchoice?

(C) I love training with Wrightchoice because its so much fun, we get to play matches at the end of training, use different skills, take penalties against the coaches and I get to play with my friends in matches.

(WCSA) What has been your best moment at Wrightchoice?

(C) I have had loads of great moments at Wrightchoice from Scoring 2 great goals against our rival club, getting medals and meeting professional footballers at our presentation evening, playing matches with my team-mates, having fun at training every week, but my best moment ever was scoring the winning penalty to win one of the tournaments this summer.

(WCSA) What player do you model yourself on and why?

(C) Cesc Fàbregas of Arsenal because of how he plays, he passes the ball well and I like the way he creates chances for his team mates.

Parent Questions:

(WCSA) How much do you feel the coaching at Wrightchoice has developed your child?

(P) In Jordan’s 3 years with Wrightchoice the coaching he has received has been fantastic. Jordan has learnt and developed so much over this time and has loved every minute of it. Although Jordan has also trained at Chelsea & Southampton, these academy’s have never given Jordan the one to one help that he has needed to develop his weaker points of his game which the coaches at Wrightchoice have worked very hard with him on.

The coaching sessions are brilliant as each session is mainly ball work this helped Jordan when he was younger as it kept his concentration going as he was never bored as he always had a ball at his feet.

Something the coaches at Wrightchoice have encouraged Jordan to do is to use all the skills he has learnt not just in training sessions but also in match situations. This has been a great factor for Jordan’s development as it has given him the confidence to try different skills throughout the match and even if it doesn’t work he always gets congratulated on trying something new.

Jordan had two main areas, which he needed a lot more time to develop with. Jordan never liked to use his left foot especially in matches as he didn’t want to get it wrong but the coaches gave him the confidence to try and use it as much as possible.

(WCSA) In what way has the Wrightchoice organisation benefited your child outside of Football?

(P) Wrightchoice has also helped Jordan off the pitch in a number of different ways. Jordan was a very shy child and was very quiet when he first started Wrightchoice. Over the last 3 years I have seen Jordan grow in character and confidence in everyday life. Jordan is now very comfortable around other kids he’s met for the first time and is more confident with holding conversations with adults he doesn’t know, which will help him in later life to come.

(WCSA) Describe the relationship between your child and the coaches at Wrightchoice?

(P) Jordan has a great relationship with all the coaches, he talks very highly of all the coaches and really takes on board everything they tell him. Even if he sees a coach outside of football he always runs over to talk to them about what he has been practicing or learnt. When Jordan is with the coaches you can see that he is so happy to be around them. The coaches have always helped with given Jordan confidence to express himself on and off the pitch. The most important thing that I have noticed with Jordan and the coaches is that there is no pressure what so ever, this is very important as he is so young I believe kids should just enjoy playing football. .

(WCSA) What would be your reasons for recommending Wrightchoice to other children/parents?

(P) Wrightchoice is a fantastic club for any child to be part of, the main reason’s I would recommend Wrightchoice to any parent is:

  • Children are always in a safe environment.
  • Regardless of your Child's level of football ability each child gets the same quality of coaching.
  • You can talk the coaches about anything i.e. monitoring your child’s behavior, if they are being bullied in life, what’s best to do if there is there is a weight problem etc.
  • The coaches are always on hand if you need feedback on the child’s performance or what they might need to improve on and hey always give tips of what we can do as parents.
  • Its not all about winning at Wrightchoice is the taking part which matters and keeping kids fit, having fun and expressing themselves.
  • The coaches have such a great bond with all the kids and I have never heard any kid screamed or shouted at on match days like you here at other clubs.
  • As it’s a charity it gives every child an opportunity to enjoy football regardless of there parents financial situation as some clubs you have to pay expensive signing on fees and match subs.
